Blade Dance
Figures advance in studied quiet ease
upon a path to Edo under green trees
Recognition, fate intervenes swift as wind
now only courage and speed’s whirlwind
Whisper swift, a flash, a sundering sigh
as someone wins and someone must die
Razored inner spirit, iron core to steel soul
and fate’s martial action’s take their toll
Forged steel patiently hammer shaped
amid fiery furnace and fate dark draped
Demon edge shaped by the polishing art
to shear armor and pierce evil’s heart
Patterned steps and movements swift
as blades dive and slip and swiftly lift
Skill is the judge and cruel it will be
all too fast ad final for one to really see
Practiced swing to clear the blade clean
a sheathing pass, the steel soul now unseen
A figure dressed in dark robes turns to go
as time begins again and starts now to flow
On the ground a somber silent figure lies
clawed hands grasping dirt as life flies
Fate feasts on the past moment’s madness
and one becomes more and the other less
