nice, but i think the NL lineup could use another bat from CHC
I am first and foremost a Cubs fan, having grown up near Wrigley Field. But I tried not to let my hometown bias influence my choices. It was a coin flip between Wright and Ramirez for backup to Jones at 3b, so I put 'em all on. Since the game's in NY, I give a slight boost to NY players. But I thought the Cubs should have at least one position player on my team.
The thing is, there's a BUNCH of guys up and down the lineup playing well, but just slightly below All-Star caliber in my book: Soto, Lee, DeRosa, Theriot, Soriano, and Fukodome--add Ramirez and that's SEVEN regulars who COULD make an All-Star team, but it wouldn't be a crime if they didn't. Talk about a well-balanced attack, up and down the lineup! Throw in Edmonds, who has hit well for the Cubs, and ALL EIGHT regulars are doing well.
But PITCHING is the #1 reason the Cubs have the best record in the league. I've got FOUR Cub pitchers on my team: Zambrano, Dempster, Marmol, and Wood.
