Here we go!
Arsenic and Old Lace
Aliens (great series except for 3)
Apollo 13
The Aviator
Apocolypto
All About Eve
The African queen
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
Armageddon
Aliens was one of the first movies I saw where the sequel by far outshone its predecessor. No easy task, but with John Cameron at the helm, and Walter Hill on point it was always going to be one hell of a ride. Moreover, we first came to notice the music of James Horner, who managed to receive his first Academy Award nomination.
More than any of the other alien movies, Aliens has a tremendous pace. The Marines, who feel this will be just another Bug Hunt are soon into a situation they know is well over their heads, not least due to the ineptness of their commanding officer Lieutenant William Gorman. Nevertheless, in a humane and touching moment, Gorman and his nemesis Private Vasquez, go out in a sacrifice/suicide which should humble any viewer.
As well as the "evil" aliens, Paul Reiser plays the creepy Burke, whose capitalist colours turn red at the hand of the aliens. Lance Henriksen, who plays the android Bishop, was to reprise a similar role in the overbearing Aleins Vs predator. Cameron would play a similar game in the upcoming Teminator 2, when he changed villain to hero.
Aliens is currently a well deserved 63 in the IMDBs top 250.
Favourite quote
Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No. Have you?
All Quiet on the Western Front,
Around the World in 80 Days
Which version?
The Alamo.
AIRPLANE!
Duh!
A Star is Born.
That got me thinking of Air Force One.
Okay, not a top ten, but Amityville Horror was scary.
So take one of the other out. Which one?
The African Queen (For sure, Mr. Allnut)
The Age of Innocence (Scorsese scores)
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (just kidding)
Dean Martin as Matt Helm in THE AMBUSHERS
And does Roger Corman’s A BUCKET OF BLOOD get filed under B?
Hmmm. I’d go with Austin Powers. AIRPLANE! defined a whole genre and started new generation of parodies. The Spy Who Shagged Me was merely funny.
I didn't know that.
You can watch whole movie on You Tube.
I'm a Cary Grant freak, but IMHO Arsenic and Old Lace is his best. His very best! However, I may just have to spend 90 minustes on You Tube just to be sure.
Keep smiling,
Philip
PS It's a LOOOOOONG time since I saw this movie
Nevertheless, a hilarious movie, and a good answer.
Cheers,
philip.

No, not the first parody, but there is something about the way it was done that changed how we thought of parodies.
Can’t quite put my finger on it though.
Maybe it was just the timing of it? God knows just one more “Airport” movie and all our heads would have exploded.
