How many countries have come to our aid?

I realize many counties hate us due to our corrupt lib media telling lies around the world how awful we are, but the USA has always helped in natural disasters more than any other country..........so is it too much to ask for some in return?

I know this is a stupid non-issue with alot of people, but it bugs me that we have not heard of ANY support from any other country.

Reminds me of an old song by the Kinks, “Help Me Now I’m Falling.” -—

I remember
When you were down
And you needed a helping hand
I came to feed you
But now that I need you
You won’t give me a second glance
Now I’m calling on citizens from all over the world
This is captain America calling
I bailed you out when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I’m falling
Help me now I’m calling you
Catch me now I’m falling
I’m in your hands, it’s up to you
Catch me now, I’m falling
I remember
When you were down
You would always come running to me
I never denied you
And I would guide you through your difficulties
Now I’m calling on citizens from all over the world
This is captain America calling
I built you up when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I’m falling
Help me now I’m calling you
Catch me now I’m falling...”

It don’t matter, Bubba. We’ll get by just fine without them, and we’ll still be there for them when they need our help because that’s just the way we are. We’re Americans. Nobody could do more. We could do no less.

Canada routinely stands with us and to some extent, so does Mexico.

The Iranian hostages, 9/11 and Katrina come to mind.

You're right - in fact, I think other countries think we're only getting "what we deserve."

Why have state and local governments from the flooded areas ignored this problem until now when it’s too late?

Ignored what problem? When lots and lots of water falls in the same place in a short period of time, there is going to be flooding.

Mexico has sent many people in advance of this event, so they would be prepared to assist.

This raises an interesting question:

Who is America’s best friend?

Hands down, the answer must be England and Australia.

I live in Des Moines. The levee system that was put in place over the past 15 years held a tremendous amount of water in check. The one part that gave way was the part that hadn't been replaced because of a years long delay in getting a federal environmental impact study funded.

Cedar Rapids, which had the worst flooding, had also upgraded their levee system during the past 15 years. Sometimes, nature trumps what we can do to hold it back.

Like some great big drains or something?

They understand as we do that we are in the best shape and position to take care of ourselves. We never ask for help.

I never looked at it that way.... I guess they were there for 911 and Katrina as well. Looks like we have some apologizing to do and some crow to eat. (IALMAO)

I realize the Midwest flooding is bad and I am NOT minimizing it, but are you really comparing it to a tidal wave (or hurricane or earthquake) that kills tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people and leaves millions homeless and starving in countries without the resources or the competent aid agencies to do anything about it?

Many, many countries DID offer help after Katrina. And there are in fact many, many lesser disasters in foreign countries that the U.S. doesn’t send aid for.

This would not happen if George Bush would sign damn Kyoto. I think he caused the flood in the Bible. I know it is there somewhere.
