It is not our society that wants this perversion. In fact whenever the people have been given a chance to vote on the issue, they vote against it. It will be the same in California this November.

I totally agree with you. I’m a Christian, homosexuality is no longer prosecuted by death in the New Testament so that argument doesn’t wash with me. Historically, civilizations that have abandoned their moral compass have gone by the wayside, America will be no different. This is another brick removed from the wall, a huge brick. God bless.

And what will be the glue that holds any faction together if a civil war comes about? God blessed this nation because of our Founding Fathers adherence to the Almighty, or at least to the pursuit to that ability. We are unraveling at an alarming rate.

Unbridled socialism is indeed a great problem, but I think it is more of a symptom than the disease. G-dlessness leads to socialism more than the other way round. When modern man began to see himself as the center of the universe and the absolute master of his own destiny, he opened up the door to ideologies that sought to replace the moral structure of civilization with “new, improved” ideas for the perfection of humankind. This is why Marx had to attack religion as the opiate of the masses: much in the same way Obama does today. Once we can be convinced that the only moral authority is the government, socialists can seize control of all institutions and reorganize them in their own image.

Socialism didn’t remove religion from public discourse. It exploited the abandonment of G-d to metastasize into the monstrosity that is government today.

“As far as morality goes, you take care of yours and let other people take care of theirs.”

Well, I can’t exactly disagree, since all morality stems from our individual conduct. But since we live in together in organized social and political communities, I can’t ignore the moral behavior of my fellows, any more than I can ignore the moral behavior which is either promoted or tolerated by the governing authorities. There is a civic duty to participate in that which affects the welfare of our society, even if you don’t believe in G-d. Beyond that, my post is simply saying that, as a religious person, I feel deeply concerned by this latest assault on our ancient moral traditions.

Your point of view is not uncommon, but it is decidedly contrary to the great founding fathers and Lincoln, who all maintained that morality was a matter of the national interest and a prerequisite to G-d’s grace.

As peace loving as I am, I can’t say that I would miss San Fransisco all that much if G-d happened to want to make an example. Having said that, I hope he does so on a day when the good people of San Fransisco (I assume there are some left) are all off on vacation.

“I’m hoping this is the last affront the lord accepts from that filthy place and puts his foot down with a nice 10.5 quake.”

Oh really? Would that make you sleep easier at night? Are you happier now that the sinful people of Cedar Rapids, IA have had a little taste of God’s wrath? Just too bad that a bunch of churches flooded in the process, huh?

California is the home of Free Republic and quite a few wonderful people who post here regularly. Would the destruction of their homes, the disruption of their lives, and their possible deaths really justify your satisfaction that some folks who aren’t quite as holy as you got what was coming to ‘em?

God will have plenty of time to deal with these folks (and each of us, too) on an individual basis.

Whoa, there, I don’t think BigCinBigD needs any defending but I do think the comment about a 10.5 quake should be taken as a bit of tongue in cheek, a frustrated expression of the disgust many feel with the trend of things out there on the left coast. I don’t think he’s hoping for a lot of innocent people to get killed any more than he wants to see churches washed away.

Like it or not or even believe it or not, God is in charge.

Agreed. And He will judge them by their actions.

Homosexuals are and will always likely be around 3 percent of the population. Out of this 3 percent, how many will "marry?"

It's not like there are untold numbers of Americans who are waiting for the right climate to proclaim their "gayness."

I don't have strong feelings either way on this issue. IMO, there are bigger issues than a small percent of the population of what is already a small percent of the population getting married.

I guess it’s possible, but it sure didn’t sound like it from the context. Perhaps a little emoticon next to such a call for natural disaster would have cleared things up. You know... the way that most people in California talk about 10.5 quakes, with a little “;-)”

Amen! Look at the churches that were eagerly looking to marry homosexuals, that is a back in your face to God! But don’t think for a moment that this homosexual agenda is not about making the churches recognize homosexuality as normal. For those who will NOT recognize homosexuality those churches will lose any kind of government assistance and or will be charged with some kind of prejudice or hate-crime. The homosexual agenda is NOT about keeping it in the bedroom as some say. In ten years, more and more young people will just go with the flow but as long as the Bible is still in circulation there will still be that small still voice of Gods will to be heard. But let’s not forget homosexuality is hardly our only problem. 50 million dead children from abortion is also this countries dirty secret. 50 million dead children! Do we deserve God’s blessing?

This morning I cried watching the pictures of gay couples getting married in CA. I’ve always known that a large number of people will go to hell, but I had never seen them lining up for the trip. Concerned Women for America is having today a day of prayer and fasting regarding this issue. It’s not too late to begin!

Unless the American people rise up and tell 5 - 10 lawyers in black robes that they do NOT agree that homosexuality is equal to hetrosexuality and that marriage is between one man and one woman (not closely related)only, then the "people will have spoken."

Keeping silent when wrong is done is the same thing as agreeing with it, just ask all of those now dead Germans who stood silently by as Nazis dragged Jews, Gypsys, Christian Pastors who refused to be silent, off to "labor camps" to be worked or gassed to death.

Each and every German who kept silent, gave tacit approval to what Hitler and Goebels, et al were doing, therefore were just as guilty and all had blood of the innocents on their hands.

The same could be said today of those Americans who stand silently by as 5 lawyers in the Supreme Court, claimed that women had the right to kill their babies because they found them "inconvenient," "embarassing," or "difficult" to give birth to.

50 million dead babies is a lot of blood on the hands of the American people, more than were killed in all wars fought by America for our own freedom.

The blood of those innocents have not bought America favor with God but eternal shame and the evil continues this very minute.

I believe that the people of California already spoke on the issue. The judges overturned the will of the people. Now those same people are preparing to amend their state constitution to bar gay “marriage.” I truly believe that God knows all, sees all and will be pleased with the people following the November vote.
