"Personally I like the challenge."

Good for you, enjoy it. For the 98% of us who are not techies and have no desire ever to try to be, give us stuff that works properly, out of the box. With the vast sums paid to companies like Microsoft, is it too much to ask that consumers receive products that work easily and consistently? Is it too much to ask that we not have to waste our lives talking to tech support in India or hiring local computer "consultants" to try to fix the things that Microsoft did not make right in the first place?

One of the problems with getting a Windows operating system working seamlessly is the vast amount of different hardware vendors out there. The major advantage Mac has over PC is they build the machines and write the OS. They know their hardware and software are compatible. This advantage obviously has its drawbacks, such as your ability to pick and chooses what hardware configurations you would like. Anyway, as I said before, if you want a good reliable computer out of the box then buy a Mac.
