You are absolutely right about the fine line between whining and criticism. Whining can masquerade as criticism, sullying the very notion of freedom.
I think that even though criticism is a legitimate form of discourse in every context, it does have a negative impact on the freedom of expression at the molecular level.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm trying to learn how to speak good in english ;-)

The real boundary of freedom of expression exists where freedom is impeded by a direct action that puts a stop to the expression. An imaginary boundary of free expression exists where the abstract idea of freedom is impeded by indirect action that puts a stop to the abstract freedom of expression through the negativity inherent in criticism. So, if we criticize someone's complaint we are diminishing his imaginary boundary - but only in our mind? Right?
So, if an imaginary boundary exists and we give it strength by observing it it is no longer imaginary but actually exists.
Existentialism is fun!

Plus, he was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. After the past 10 years, and the way they’ve played, you’d have to be loyal to put up with their maddening mediocrity. As a fellow Bills fan, I can relate.

Exactly right. It does no real and measurable harm.
But it’s fun to imagine these things. It’s the cosmology of the brain.

Just for fun. I went to the Fox site to the place where you submit news. I gave them a newsflash that “Tim Russert has died”.
They said they would look into it and I would remain anonymous.
Geesh.

Thanks.
It’s entertaining to poke holes into a thread of criticism/whining, by whining yourself about the whiners, and turning it into an existential argument.
It was especially fun on the Teddy Has Brain Cancer threads.
Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for so brilliantly understanding the metastasis of my argument. ;-)

Russert was by far the best of the liberal hacks doing Sunday morning shows until Chris Wallace showed up.

LOL! I really think that it is just a matter of time until the corporate guys and gals who run the electronic media realize how much money they could save by using computer generated talking heads to deliver their disinformation.

I found Russert far more likeable than I do Wallace. Russert was being paid to bring in an audience and generate advertising revenue. He did that well. Now NBC has to find another cash cow and they are beside themselves. They know Gregory, Wilson, Olbermann, etc. won’t be able to fill those shoes.

D) A private company offering its product for public consumption is fairly criticized for lowering the level of its product to the point of worthlessness.
E) That the news organizations really do broadcast whatever they want explains their decayed condition. No “for profit company can ignore the the customer.
F) Calling legitimate criticism “whining” is simply a means of discouraging healthy “freedom of expression”.
G) If the “boundaries of freedom of expression” are “imaginary” their diminishment could hardly be accomplished by a comparison of the worshipful eulogizing of Saint Russert with other men of equal or greater accomplishments in life.
There lots more alphabet left.

If Death of a Salesman was written today it would be Death of a MSM Dinosaur.
My grandfather was a newspaper editor, dyed in the wool Democrat, and his death was major front page news in many papers. I never knew he was so famous.

I apologize. My post was a subtle attempt at sarcasm.
If you look carefully, you’ll see that I am guilty of the same thing I accuse the
fellow posters.

My TV has neither cable nor an antenna. It works fine for watching DVDs.
Life is much nicer when you don’t observe it through the media filter.

No need to apologize to me or anyone else for speaking your mind. Everyone else here feels free to do so, why not you? ‘Course folks like to dissect comments too but for the most part it's not personal from what I can tell and when it is then that's someone else's failure.
But sometimes I am a bit slow so for me it might take a while before I sort the sarcasm out. Cheers!
