I haven't seen the movie, and don't plan to. And I haven't watched more than a minute or two of the TV show, but I know a lot of young women in their 20s & 30s who are hardcore fans of the show and were all gung-ho about this movie a couple weeks ago.
My theory is that "Sex and the City" is basically a fantasy show for a certain type of young woman. From what I understand, the gals on "Sex and the City" wear expensive clothes, eat in fancy restaurants, sip cocktails at trendy nightclubs, live in cool apartments, and have handsome, wealthy boyfriends. The "Sex and the City" fan imagines herself leading a similarly glamorous lifestyle. It's similar to how young men like "Spider-Man" and "Star Wars," and fantasize about battling villains and aliens.

And there's nothing wrong with that. As long as people can keep the 'fantasy' part away from the 'reality' part, it's a good escape from stress. Just like video games and TV. They have their place. It's just that a lot of people don't know how to keep them in their place.
As far as Kim Cattral? (sp?) Whoo. Anyone remember Mannequin?
