I think it's only the third time the Open has been held in California.

The US Open has been held many times at Pebble Beach, remember Tom Watson's famous chip in, and at Olympic Country Club in SF. Both courses are part of the US Open's regular cycle. If you are talking about So Cal you are more accurate in the sense the only time the Open has been in So Cal was the Hogan at Riveria.

I don't know what happened to my post that corrected the wrong information in my original, but I was working with three open windows so I could get the information into the post before a ping appeared. Thanks for noticing, if you look at the Wikipedia post just below, you'll see the Champions and the courses upon which they won.

Forgot about the Olympic Club in San Fran... the Open was just there in 1998 (Lee Janzen)....
