The Obama We Don't Know
Wall Street Journal ^ | 6 5 08 | OpEd Staff

With Barack Obama clinching the Democratic Party nomination, it is worth noting what an extraordinary moment this is. Democrats are nominating a freshman Senator barely three years out of the Illinois legislature whom most of America still hardly knows. The polls say he is the odds-on favorite to become our next President.

Think about this in historical context. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were relatively unknown, but both had at least been prominent Governors. John Kerry, Walter Mondale, Al Gore and even George McGovern were all long-time Washington figures. Republican nominees tend to be even more familiar, for better or worse. In Mr. Obama, Democrats are taking a leap of faith that is daring even by their risky standards.

Ted Kennedy has been said to have awaited the day when he could push through his complete and total socialist agenda on the US. He has waited since Medicare in the 60’s- for the day of Universal Health Care (brought to you by the same folks who run the Post Office, been to one of them lately and seen the wonderful service those folks offer??). Since he will no doubt, recover completely from his brain tumor due to an operation no one else will ever have once UHC is foist upon us, he will see to it that all of Obama/Ayers policies are put in place. Remember, we still have Wool subsidies that were put in place during the Civil War for the making of uniforms. Sam Donaldson of ABC reporting fame, still receives these subsidies (he is a millionaire and says he will NOT give them back, they are his to take). Once a BAD policy has been written, it never goes away. Since the US is the last refuge for those escaping the types of government we are rushing headlong into, where will WE be able to immigrate to??

My scenario for Obama if elected: Given that he is prone to serious gaffes, and has demonstrated horrible judgment in his associates, he will very possibly try to simultaneously push an extremist agenda while trying to get a collection of the most ultra-left wingers into his cabinet as possible. I think by the time his first 100 days are up, he may be finding the country saying "WTF? No WAY!" to him a lot.

And that will be about the time that some "National Emergency" is declared and martial law will be attempted. Maybe I'm doom and gloom but I expect it to get very ugly VERY fast.

You are probably correct.

It is my opinion that he will be elected, I just cannot see McCain beating him. Too old, not that smart, not charismatic enough and a pissed off base. Not a formula for victory.

The pain and damaged caused by Obama and the radical left will be so severe IMHO, that it will take years to fix.

In 1987 I bought my first house and was happy that the interest rate was only 11%! Thanks for that Jimmy Carter.

I hope and pray that it does not, but it is likely to get VERY bad. Look for 2010 to be a terrible year, the laws passed in 2009 will start to have some serious effect by then.

Very sad because it should not have to be.

Most of the successful entrepreneurs from decades ago to the current, never ran a business before they followed their passion, and became more successful than many companies that existed for decades, why, because they hired the resources (people) that were competent in the areas they were lacking in, while using their leadership qualities to spearhead their objectives.
Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs, Microsoft’s Bill Gates and President Truman were all college dropouts. All except President Truman ran a business, a small haberdashery, prior to becoming the CEO, but all were and are considered competent leaders.
They hired competent Ph.D.’s and other to fill positions they lack knowledge of.
Bush has a BA in History from Yale and an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Harvard and was Governor of Texas. When he took power, we had a budget surplus.
Today, under his administration, America is $9.4 TRILLION Dollars in debt, and that debt is growing at over $1.6 billion each day. That’s equivalent to each of us 304 million American (including babies) owing approximately $31,000.00
His Pappy, with all his experience, also ran the country’s economy into the ground, and he and his pappy were experienced businessment... Oil Tycoons... as well as his side kick Dick Cheney, a former Halliburton CEO 1995-2000 with more degrees and CEO credentials than I care to list.
Hillary ran a campaign that is $31,000,000.00 in the red, with many of her staff and business that did business with her campaign filing suits for non-payment.
McCain, who was born in Panama, NOT the U.S. for most of his campaign barely had enough funds to fly and had to accept a donated bus. Even now, he barely has enough funds to run a prolong campaign against the “inexperienced” Obama.
Obama ran a campaign that stayed in the black (financially), and has millions to pay off Hillary’s debt and still has enough for a prolong campaign against the “experienced” McCain.
Experience? What the heck does that signify...
Because you never ran a company before, does it mean that if you follow your passion to start your own business or pursue your dreams you are destined to be a failure... I hope not.
Do you think the facts above exemplifies how either would run their administration?

The Obama We Don't Know

This op-ed title has an interesting juxtaposition with Obama's comments anout both Rev. Wright and Tony Rezco: "this is not the man I knew".

When are the Obamessiah corwds going to realize that Obama "is not the man I knew"?

Mainstream America will never elect this Muslim, race baiting militant. Obama is a unpatriotic POS who has already stated that he will stand with the Muslims if the political winds turn ugly. The rest of your post is lefty spin.

OK, get ready, the first of what will surely be hundreds of Obama apologists and rationalizers have hit FR, some probably paid by the leftists who have so willingly supplied Obamessiah with all that campaign cash. Can you say “George Soros, et al??”

Renegadebay has been a Freeper since waayyy back in June of ‘08!

Having said that, I’m not a fan of the Bushs either. I believe their mismanagement of the nation was (is) part of the same program that may give us Obamessiah inasmuch as PHILOSOPHICALLY, the SAME FOLKS are calling the shots behind the scenes just as they have for over 100 years.

Conspiracy? WHAT conspiracy??

Below are a few lines from Obama’s books “ in his own words:

From Dreams of My Father: “I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”

From Dreams of My Father: “I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race.”

From Dreams of My Father: “There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.”

From Dreams of My Father: “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

From Dreams of My Father: “I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.”

From Audacity of Hope: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

The scenerio you paint is right on target! Rush is right - the socialists take their time — they get what they want incrementally. It started with FDR 60 years ago and will end — where and when? I am frightened beyond belief.

I appreciate the quotes, and by themselves, sounds damning. But they are extracts, and the context in which they were stated may denote a different interpretation or reasons for those statements.
He seems to be a smart man, and I don’t think he would plainly and unwittingly put anything in writing that would debase himself or alienate himself from the millions of jewish, blacks or other supporters who elected him in Illinois, and now the possible presidency.
If you tell a friend who just did you a wonderful favor “I could Kill you” because you were so appreciative, and he gets knocked off the next day, should I, as a Juror convict you of murder, because someone recorded you saying ‘I could...”
I have not read the book, and to reiterate, have no idea of the context in which such statements were made, so I cannot respond with any level of competence or certainty.

And BTW, I have not sent a dime to the Obama campaign, and have no plans to.
Right now, I’m just an observer, and so far, I like what he stands for regarding health care for those who don’t have any coverage or cant afford it, regarding eliminating tax incentives to companies that relocates to foreign countries like Communist China, and the funding of innovative self-reliant energy and alternate propulsion methods & systems to wean us off the murdering anti-American rag-headed jihadist fanatics in Saudi Arabia and other allah fanatics that would jump with jubilation if America were blown off the face of the earth tomorrow.

You don’t REALLY BELIEVE this guy will actually DO those things, do you?

This is what is called “campaign rhetoric.” That’s a polite phrase for what most military folks call Bravo Sierra.

I just hope there aren’t enough of you folks out there to elect this clown.

My fear is that there are STILL enough idiot soccer moms out there to do that.

I am not oblivious to the ever recurring b/s promises “every” politician feeds us, like guys telling a woman they would like to screw what they want to hear till they get what they want, but as Americans, our choices of who we elect to lead our country inevitably boils down to who appears, sounds or convinces us is the best of the remaining puppets of their respective organizations that fought the fight most strategically and tactically, and at minimum, have, or mention an alternative route to the destructive path we’re on... thats why they’re called Politicians, not Friends, like my loyal Jack Russell Terriers.
Personally, I would like to elect Lincoln, or Washington, though either or both were and still are despised by some segments of our country, regardless, they were true Patriots with the good of America at heart. They weren’t beholding to special interest groups or lobbyist of corporations or despicable governments, but those options and characters are no longer an option for me, so what alternative are we left with: Obama or McCain.
If Obama turns out to be an anti-American muslim-loving prick, then he will have to deal with his fellow Americans, but he has been in the U.S. Senate for several years, and if his allegiance was to allah, or allah’s western-hating religious segment, or U.S. hating floor-kissers, someone by now should have some indisputable proof, but there is none.
Preferably, I would have loved the option to choose N.Y. Mayor Bloomberg, former NJ Governor Tom Kean, or Romney, above others, though Romney seems too much like a slick-willy, but the options are what they are, and as for McCain, regarding Iraq, I will NEVER support any inclination to perpetuate a War that expends the life or limb or drop of blood of a Single Precious American to gain the freedom of any anti-American allah-loving, American-hating society like Iraq, who in my opinion are a bunch of coward ingrates that gobbled up our resources, our hard earned taxes, and our most valuable resource, the precious lives of our Bravest, Finest, most Valued Ass-kicking Fighting American Men & Women.
These are the same people, along with the Palestinians and other American-haters who were shown jumping for joy when the sub-human Scum-laden and his blank-brained followers demolished the WTC.
These are the same “sheeple” who we liberated from a maniacal dictator, who was one of their own, the same people who after liberating them, day after day said they would like All the infidels, us, warm-blooded, caring Americans , who died for their worthless-asses to leave their so-called “holy” A-hole grain of sand they call their country.
Except for his tax policies, McCain’s social, political and economic perspectives seems to be the same old b/s , the same old malice our enemies and alienate our allies, the same old spend and spend policy of this current administration with nothing new mentioned or implied to recover our Greatness and now SHAMEFUL dependence on handouts from the ever-growing Powerful Communist China to stay afloat financially.
If you or others think I’m a lefty, or whatever unfounded quick-slap label is assigned to independent-minded thinkers like me, you better think again.
Conservative, Yes, Liberal, in some ways, Capitalist, 100%, Leftist, when Hell turns to Ice, but most ardent... I AM AMERICAN who. like most Americans, care about others, but don’t take crap from anyone who despise us, because of who we are, or what we are... Freedom-loving Ass-kickers and the GREATEST Warriors and producers of Warriors, Inventors and Innovators this world has Ever seen, or may ever see again, something “this” world quickly forget, as we create the next innovation they benefit from without giving us our just regards or just due.
With all our faults, we Americans are a truly blessed people, and I don’t think that that was, or is by accident.
Our forefathers fought and died for what we now take for granted. They paid a heavy price, and I just don’t want to see some other prick, or moron, for platitudes from their friends, or self-ingriating narcissism squander our once Great Resources, our People, or demolish our Manufacturing Infrastructure any more, and as happened to other societies, turn us into an “has been” like Greece, Rome an England, all now “former” Super World Powers.

A most eloquent dissertation. We agree on some points, disagree on others.

But you, like so very many others, have become transfixed on the presidential race. It is not — or, in our system, shouldn’t be — that important.

For years, I’ve been amazed at this idiotic quadrennial fascination with the beauty contest known as the (cue the trumpet fanfare) “PRESIDENTIAL RACE.” Our inattention and/or apparent desire for a king or a strong man dictatorship has allowed our system to morph to the present quasi-monarchy from its original foundations as a representative REPUBLIC.

People, the most important thing we can remember about all of this is that the Founders constructed the system to put – AND KEEP — the KEYS IN CONGRESS and current Gang of 535 could bring this out-of-control government spending and the steady usurpation of our freedoms to a screeching halt tomorrow at noon — IF they wanted to.

But they DON’T — for a number of reasons: (And I cite this as but one example of the problem. Don’t get me started on the ENERGY thing!)

1. They understand the need to vacuum the excess FRAUDS (Federal Reserve Accounting Unit Denominators) — there are no “dollars” circulating now! — out of circulation BEFORE the bulk of the dumb masses (say it really fast for maximum effect) catch on to the resultant inflation. If you question that statement, ask yourself why else would a criminal enterprise (the federal government) having the power to “create” “money” with the stroke of a pen NEED YOURS every April 15th?

2. The current Gang of 535 understands the need for the massive tax code (so-called because it is written in code by gnomes chained to posts in the cellars of K Street lobbying firms and understood only by their keepers) to reward their friends, punish their enemies and keep the rest of us under their thumbs with threats of draconian punishments should we run afoul of it. It is impossible to NOT run afoul of it.

3. While the dumb masses rant about the abusive practices of this top criminal enterprise’s subsidiary criminal enterprise (the IRS), members of the Gang can pose and posture for the cameras from time to time and declare that “something MUST be done to reign in the abuses of the IRS,” NOTHING WILL BE DONE until we clean house on Capitol Hill and get back to the HONEST, CONSTITUTIONAL MONEY called for at Art.1, Sect. 10. They’ve been playing a rigged game of 3 card-Monte with us for so long – and getting away with it – that, as Herman Cain’s book title declares – “They Think You’re STUPID.” And, hell, for MOST of the dumb masses, they’re right.

And THAT process starts in YOUR STATE and CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT by finding and supporting decent candidates — at ALL leverls — who will go to YOUR state capitol and Malfunction Junction and do that house cleaning. Not marching on Washington...not sending “money” to the RNC (LOL!)...not writing poison pen letters to these current jerks...but THROWING OUT THE CURRENT JERKS and doing it as many times as necessary to get it done.

And for you who, like a sad number of the dumb masses who THINK YOUR GUY IS OK, go to www.trimonline.org for your guy’s voting record on taxes and spending.

I often get the strong sense that the American people have some sick and sophomoric yearning for a new ROYAL FAMILY or BENEVOLENT KING to make their lives what they themselves feel incapable of making them without some nanny-state sovereign. Throughout history, with few exceptions conspicuous because of their rarity, those systems nearly always become malignant and freedom founders and eventually fails. With the exception of America – the IDEA, not the place – most men who have walked the earth have lived as slaves.

As opportunities afford themselves (and this is one), I simply attempt to remind my fellow citizens of that history and what lies ahead if they continue in their ignorance of that history.

I could go on for volumes but you get the idea.

One final thought: RE-ELECT NOBODY!!!!!

Will consider your suggestions.
However, I’ve lost focus on my goals (spending too much time online and getting a lot of heat from YKW), and agreed to take an hiatus from the internet until I resume my path to my aspirations and get my life back on track.
So for now, I must say farewell.
You seem like a Good American and a Patriot, and I appreciate you, my Fellow American.
