I am suggesting this (or anyone's better idea) to try to keep my head from exploding considering the prospects for the next 4 years and beyond.

I want to suggest a way to send an irrefutable signal to him that we are voting for him as the least of the evils and NOT because we think he is the Conservative leader we had hoped for.

Voting for him based on the self defeating lesser of two evils losing strategy only begets more evil and a socialist President.

I respectfully suggest that if you vote for him in any manner he has every right to assume you approve of his positions .

I have always felt that I have to vote for the candidate who is closest (or least farthest) from my views/principles (step one) and then push them as much as possible to move in my direction (Steps 2 thru 10,000). I just hope that, much as President Bush (Father & Son) dissapointed my by moving AWAY from conservatism, we can press soon-to-be President McCain to move TOWARD conservatism.

Just my thoughts.

...and you couldn't get me to vote for a Lib/Dem if you held a gun to my head. Ever.

And, before you say it, not voting is the same as voting for the opposition. Too stupid to even discuss.

I suggest this approach to putting forth a strong message to any candidate for public office.

First, set aside $100 for political contributions. $100 is an arbitrary amount. Set aside however much you think is appropriate for the good government of this great nation.

When the focal candidate promises or takes action that is in accord with the Constitution and laws as put forth by the people, send a $25 check to that candidate’s election fund. When the candidate does something that is harmful to our great nation, send an empty envelope with the message “This envelope would have contained a $25 donation had you not decided to work against this great nation. A donation is waiting for you when you correct your harm or do something good for the nation. Respectfully”

Dear Senator McCain: In light of your passion for Algore's Klimate Change Koolaid I make you this promise. Drop the Green nonsense or I will be happy to take a gas holiday on November 4, 2008 and avoid a wasteful trip to the polls.

You go on ahead and vote for him. I am tired of this little game.

McCain doesn’t care what you or any conservative thinks, he also won’t pay any attention to your pleas. He’s out courtin’ Indys and Hillary’s old shrews.

“not voting is the same as voting for the opposition”

Only if you ASSume that my vote was going to the Repube no matter what. In actuality I stated at the beginning of the primary process that there were three candidates that I would have a hard time voting for. One of them got the nomination. He’ll get my vote contingent upon his VP pick.

No conservative, no vote.

The majority of the provisions in the Lieberman-Warner bill are just a rehash of what was in the McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Acts of 2007 and 2005.

If McCain votes against it this time around, he’s doing it for political purposes and is a hypocrite.

If he votes for it, he’s consistent in his stupidity for promoting this destructive nonsense.

I don't know how you define "closest" but keep in mind McCain actively sought out socialist Democrats in 2001 when considering becoming a member of their party. John Kerry considered him as a VP running mate for 2004. McCain has been funded by communist billionaire George Soros. McCain has sponsored bill with socialist Democrats Kennedy, Feingold and Lieberman regarding amnesty for illegal aliens, restricting free speech and the false premise of human induced global warming. He has promised to speak and meet with amnesty loving La Raza who wants to take back much of the western U.S. for Mexico. He has publicly stated opposition to drilling in ANWR. Additionally many Clinton supporters are considering voting for McCain. If that's your idea of close then Hitlery is the mother of conservatism.

just hope that, much as President Bush (Father & Son) dissapointed my by moving AWAY from conservatism, we can press soon-to-be President McCain to move TOWARD conservatism.

It's a fallacy to think you can advance the conservative cause by supporting a socialist. McCain has been moving away fron Conservativism for at least 15 years. Thinking he's going to reverse years of socialist thinking in the next four months is wishful thinking to say the least.

And, before you say it, not voting is the same as voting for the opposition. Too stupid to even discuss.

I agree. That's why I'll be voting for a conservative.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe that McCain is a real conservative.

Add to the list: a sane fiscal policy that prevents the government from simply printing new money because it spends too much. $9 trillion dollars of national debt is insane. Every year we spend over $250 billion dollars IN INTEREST. It is a suicidal policy especially when countries like China hold much of our debt. Plus, the creation of new money forces the dollar down, a key factor in rising prices (oil and gas anyone?), and one reason our economy is not progressing as it should.

The one thing I am wary of is “enforcing” treason and sedition laws. REAL treason needs to be punished absolutely. But it is important to remember that we have freedom of speech and that simply because we may find certain speech offensive or seditious, it is not treason unless the speaker knowingly gives information that directly harms the US. I say all this just because I think people get caught up when they perceive some left winger to be seditious. Good post.

"The one thing I am wary of is “enforcing” treason and sedition laws."

I'm always in favor of enforcing the laws that are on the books, not, as the Libs do, invoking some "new interpretation" when it suits them. If a law is faulty then revoke it via the legislative process. If we aren't going to enforce the laws, we end up being Mexico, Venezuela, etc. I'm not recommending being heavy-handed, I just think that treason/sedition are serious offenses and jeopardize our safety and sovereignty.

You and everyone else IMO will be wasting their time. The old bastard is liberal thru and thru and will screw us in an instant.I’d just as soon have the rat in office screwing it all up for four years and take it back with a conservative at the next election.Would you buy vegetables at market that were as F%cked up as any of these candidates?I wont.
