Just FYI-
Every Linksys router I have encountered has problems. I went through 3 before getting a Netgear.
I tend to disagree with you. I have been using lynksys for ten years. Just upgraded to wireless N. I get great speeds, and reliability, but setup is somewhat advanced for a user who is not up to speed on routers and security protocols. A group of computers running different OS’s can often cause one to blame the router, when it is really a non-compatibility issue or channel interference because everyone in the area has the same router schemes..
Most anyone who's been around a while is using the one they are using because they had multiple bad experiences with one of the other brands. I've sworn off D-Link, Netgear and Linksys, at one time or another. I now run HotBrick and ZyWall routers, which cost a couple hundred each, give or take.
But as we've already established above, I'm not normal.
I have a WRT54G and a Linksys cable modem as well as PCI adatpers in desktops and a WET bridge on a W2k laptop and I've had absolutely no problems with any of it.
Now I did have a PC card wireliss and that thing had serious driver or hardware problems. Replaced it with a $15 Chinese AirLink 101 and never had another glitch.
