In the beginning
Back in nineteen fifty-five
Man didn’t know about a rock ‘n’ roll show
And all that jive
The white man had the smoltz
The black man had the blues
No one knew what they was gonna do
But Tchaikovsky had the news
He said -
“Let there be light”, and there was light
“Let there be sound”, and there was sound
“Let there be drums”, and there was drums
“Let there be guitar”, and there was guitar
“Let there be rock”

Rock guitarists were born of the blues. Here’s a perfect example of hard rock with a blues guitarist. You may need to suffer through Bonn Scott’s unique voice (not for everyone, for sure,) but Angus Young’s guitar work is POWERFUL - Bad Boy Boogie, Colchester, 1978.

I never had the good fortune to see Rory Gallagher in person.
But I have seen Kim Simmonds multiple times over the years. The first being in 71 or 72 in Tampa. Then several times in the last 8 years or so in small venues.
Kim Simmonds is a dedicated craftsman. He has just gotten better over the years as a truly great blues guitarist.

Have to draw a line between those musicians who are technically proficient and those who’s music I enjoy. Edgar Winters is proficient but I don’t like his music. Give me Nokie Edwards of the Ventures, Justin Hayward or Greg Lake. Throw in LLiona Boyd and Michael Dintrich for classical interest.

I have to disagree with The Garcia Nomination, I did the 3 dayer at Laguna Seca inn ‘88 and it was awful, every 40 minutes he and the Dead would take a break while us in the Audience would BAKE ALIVE in 100 degree heat.....
