There used to be a place you could turn in Gas Stations if you thought they were charging to much. Is that still out there???
Yes, the way it works is if you think they are charging too much you don’t turn in to them.
How could ONE gas station gouge anyone? Why not just go to another? Or is there only one station in town?
3, but 2 ,or in a gas war with each other to see who can charge the most.
You should know the price of fuel at every station in your town.

Yes let the government regulate the price of gas and set some arbritray standard for gouging rather than let the marekt set prices. THAT will certainly solve all of our problems.
Didn’t some other country try that and not have it work? In the seventies ... what am I thinking of?
Yeah, it’s out there along with the I Love Lucy programs racing at 186,000 miles per second into oblivion.
A week ago, gas at my station was 399_9, and then it fell to 394_9 a few days ago. I filled up at that price, and then yesterday it went up to 415_9 overnight. Where do I complain?
But why should I? I filled up at 394_9 ... BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Actually a lot of people probably filled up at 3.94 causing the station to use up more gas and they had to reorder at a higher price.
Okay so I asked a stupid question. lol
It’s not gouging. But it is a fact some stations take advantage of stupid people. For example there is a station near my work in the “Up Town” section of Dallas that has regular for 3.99.9/10 A station down the street the price is 3.74.9/10. So it’s not gouging just taking advantage of stupid people.
Are you joking?
Help. Help. I’m being gouged and the Government must save us!
(HInt: Try drilling in ANWR and off the coasts, developing coal resources, getting the EPA to back off on the refineries and car manufacturers, and by encouraging the building of nuke plants, you useless Gumm’nt teat-sucking numbs.)
No, why would I? It is very plausible to assume that other people had the same idea as you to buy at 3.94 thus reducing the supply while there was a sharp spike in demand. That will raise the price immediately. Also most gas stations only carry 1-3 days worth of supply.
What happened to the gas station “reordering at a higher price” ? You’re all over the map.
LOL at your understanding of what a “price war” is.
How do you know they’re gouging?
I don’t I was just asking the question.
(Please excuse my reply to QBFimi, I became confused as to my correspondents.)
I think you have a naive theory about how gas stations operate. They are not independent dealers who set their own price. They are mere vendors, as far as I understand it, and their price is dictated to them as arbitrarly as it is perceived by you and me, if I’m not mistaken. I’m sure from my own perception that all the stations in the area, representing all the companies, jumped their price on the same day by very much the same amount.
And you know, if it dropped by $0.05 one day, whose to say it could not have dropped by another $0.05 or $0.10 a day or two after that? Or stayed the same for a few days more?
At any rate, the jump of $0.21 at one shot was unprecendented over the last few months, even though the trend was steadily upward. How about two months from now? What then?
