Actually I am hoping it never takes place or that the military will support us but don’t count on the Active Duty not to follow the government.

Don’t know when you served but when I served in the 90’s.

About 30% of my Active Duty unit would of thought that Rev. Wright was right on. Another 30% didn’t follow or care about politics. So that would leave about 30% who might have a problem with it.

**For them to be told to direct that toward our own people would be a cause for great alarm within the ranks.**

Ever heard of the NYC draft riots? What about Reconstruction in the South. The Posse Comitatus Act was enacted by Congress and can be repelled by Congress. If you research the recent changes to the act and others you will find that Congress has given the Armed Forces much more leeway.

**Also, the National Guard is far less disciplined, in my opinion.**

Yes and we all know that disciplined forces are more likely to follow orders than undisciplined forces. Look at the German and Japanese Army, the government said jump or commit war crimes and the Army said how high or how many. The very fact that the National Guard is less disciplined the less likely they are to follow orders that goes against the grain.

Remember the Regular Army tanks at Waco.

I know what you mean here, but I think the 30% is way too high. I'd say that maybe 30-50% of the black guys in the Army would agree with Wright on some level, but since black people comprise about 15-20% of the armed forces (and are disproportionately represented in support units), we're only talking about a maximum of about 10%. However, that attitude has always tended to make them less apt to favor the government, not more, in my opinion, not that racists couldn't be counted on to take advantage of a conflict to get in a few shots at the objects of their hatred.

As far as comparisons to Civil War era soldiers, I'd have to say that times are different now. Back then, people tended to think of themselves as Minnesotans or Virginians first, and Americans second. Nowadays, the world is so small that we don't really make that kind of distinction.

And finally, we are also not German or Japanese. Those cultures are very different than ours. I spent most of my time in the Army learning just how different the mentality of a German is compared to an American. I wouldn't go as far as to say that somehow Americans are above evil, because we all know that isn't true, but I don't believe, for instance, that a Nazi party could arise in the US, and commit the crimes that it did in Germany, without a big fight internally. In fact, that is part of what this current fight is about: preventing the national socialists from taking over the country.

In the end, though, it is all just speculation. We'll only know for sure what will happen when it happens. But given the oppressive, socialist direction in which this country is being dragged, the only thing that scares me more than doing something, is doing nothing.
