Oh, I have my connection back.

Thank you. I had Kodak update running. I ended the task. That's all I was brave enough to tinker with.

I'm reading the task manager help file now. There's a lot of info there that I wasn't aware even existed. I'm the kind of computer user who turns it on and wants it to work - not know how it works. Guess I better change my ways. lol

There are a number of processes that can be disabled, or cancelled even. But it’s wise to leave alone unless you’re sure of what you’re doing.

One place you can check is at Tech Republic. Do a search on “Win XP Services that can be disabled”. It might take a little time to find the right thing, but I know there’s information there. Oh, you might have to sign up as a member, but it’s free and they have tons of good information. It’s worthwhile even if you’re not that computer savvy. If you’re using Vista, they likely have similar information for that system.
