Check Task Manager

Sorry, but where's that located?

Also, you may HAVE to if you want to do the uninstall.

I've already uninstalled the AVG and reinstalled it. I unchecked the AVG tool bar and it's gone. That's one problem down the drain. Now I just need to find out what on the 8.0 AVG is continually running and close it down.

Task Manager should be available by right-clicking your taskbar and selecting Task Manager. The window that comes up will have a number of tabs. The first (Applications) shows the applications currently running that show on your taskbar. The second (Processes) shows the processes running. Look in this tab for processes that appear to be associated with AVG (they may read avg.exe or some such). If you have clear understanding of the association you can click on it then click the button [End Process]. But DON’T do that if your unsure.

Another thing would be to go to [Start] [Run] then type in “mscconfig” in the window bar. That will bring up an application that lists the various processes and *.ini files loaded with Windows. The Services and Startup tabs are the ones to look at for processes aligned with AVG.

Have fun, but BE CAREFUL!
