Someone should point out to Inga that in a place like this, little spits of rock would not point upwards.

If, however, I was the parish priest and I wanted a persuasive landscape of hell, Ms. Nielsen would get the job.

...or is that question as stupid as a "chicken of the sea" question?

With an orbit well inside Mercury - I think it is in yours!

Gliese 876d is imagined above showing significant volcanism

...and that would lead to an intense odor; imagine Kileaua, Hawai'i maxed out from horizon to horizon! Yikes.

I think I am wrong, the article was just poorly worded; just guessing but what they meant was that compared to our system, it would be considered inside Mercurys orbit. Darn interesting picture though.

It isn’t in our solar system. The orbit measure is by way of comparison. The planet is as large as the earth, orbits a dwarf star, and its orbit is not as far from its star as Mercury is from ours. It is (AFAIK) in our galaxy, as I doubt we can detect planets in other galaxies as of yet.

Thank you for working with me on that. I was following the same kind of thinking...but I feared Chicken of the Sea.

Here you go, the Space Station at about 9:50 CDT tonight. Canon A510, ISO 200, 15 seconds, white balance set for sunlight as to hopefully render the station and stars naturally, hence the garish look from the window and street lights.

Ours. We can’t image stars in other galaxies.

Wow, what an impressive background for a monster and dragon webpage. Unearthly for sure!

Or, perhaps Hillary would fit in well.
