A colleague, who writes on cars all the time and who has a new book on the history of the auto coming out, says that the best deal in the world right now is any kind of classic car.

1) It will GAIN value

2) It's easier to maintain

3) It's still cooler than any of the new "cool cars" that are out there.

I'm thinking 69 Chevy Camaro SS.

The 67-72 Camaro’s are going through the roof. Could have bought them for a few k in 2003, but now...

As someone who just sold his 69 Vette roadster, not all cars are appreciating madly, for some reason, C3 Vettes are the best deals unless you’re looking for a 427, then you pay. Small blocks are a dime a dozen. Bought it in 2001 for 14k sold it for 22k, not bad but I got it cheap so thats why the price difference.
