I agree about the fast ball over 7 innings but Nolan Ryan did it for years.
He is a big kid.

What do you know about the kid pitching for the Sox tonight, Justin Masterson?

Chamberlain’s arm motion is very different though. He really whips his arm past his ear in a very fast motion. Watch Manny DelCarmen who throws it 97 mph and his looks far more effortless.

Masterson throws a very, very good sinker and he’s been compared to Derek Lowe without the “issues” that Lowe has. Strike zone command is his biggest issue but that’s normal for kids his age. The organization is very high on him.

The big difference here is that guys like Ryan, Tom Seaver and Roger Clemens (pre-roid days, when he was with the Sox) is that they threw their fastball with their entire body, not just their arm.
