Agree. The problems happened while the mother had custody. She can’t pass the test but has been going to class. Yet he is the one made to pay the price. The judge is an idiot. The girl is 18 years old. She is not a minor. She got in trouble when she was underage but lived with the mother.
I’m seriously wondering about this, why would they punish him when there are kids out there every day whose parents allow them to become truant, who allow them to drop out. My son has 3 acquaintances all aged 16, who dropped out with their parents permission (because they continuously skipped anyway, easier not to deal with the hassle of trying to keep them in, I guess). Now we’ve got a girl who did some skipping but is trying to do the work now and has just been unable to pass the math portion of the GED. Wouldn’t it make more sense for the school to offer tutoring in math so she can pass, rather than take away her means of support, parentally and financially??
