The GOP House and Senate wins on Conservatism could have been a real change in direction in this nation. But poor leadership was chosen and the Rockefeller's took control of the GOP very shortly after the new majority was sworn in. All the GOP would have had to have done was followed the Reagan Doctrines on most issues. The GOP became it's own worse enemy with ones such as Trent Lott, Specter, Hatch, Frist, McCain, Jeffords, Chaffee, etc in the senate and Newt's zippergate resignation didn't help matters either.
Following Newt's resignation the GOP became totatly obsessed with winning election rather than winning needed legislation battles and making needed changes in the course of the nation. Because of such issues Bill Clinton had things pretty much his way and Teddy K was the functional Senate Marjory Leader and still is today.
A person would have thought there was real hope with a GOP two house majority and a GOP POTUS. But by media influence the Conservatives running in 2000 who could have changed the course and brought congress back into order were labeled unelectable by the media and RNC which was Rockefeller GOP controlled.
Junior became POTUS and is every bit as bad as his dear old dad a true Rockefeller Globalist Republican. Bush Junior's Legacy will be the Republican who had a two house majority and wasted it on The Great Society Part 2 programs and insane USA second Friends first trade policies. He will be known as the GOP POTUS who gave away the sovereignty of our nation in the name of so called Free Trade and shredded the Constitution of the United States for a Globalist North America Union Agenda.
Bush has been the DEM's best dream come true {A Republican doing their work for them} and the GOP Conservatives worse nightmare so it will be also with McCain.
McCAIN- BECAUSE THE ALTERNATIVE IS UNTHINKABLE
Actually, Reagan's two solid wins were accomplished by a coalition of GOP conservatives, neocons, and Reagan Democrats.
There is no "conservative" figure in politics today who has a chance with either neocons or Reagan Dems. In fact, Reagan Dems are so repelled by present conservative leadership that they are flocking to the polls for HRC.
Conservatives are AT MOST 30% of the electorate, probably more like 25%. A winning strategy has to focus on rebuilding the Reagan coalition, not on trimming it down to the 25% pure essence.
