First Post - Serious Question Regarding the Bush Effect on the GOP

Greetings Freepers! This is my first post and I want to say at the outset that this post is not a cheap shot at either President Bush or the GOP. I am just looking for opinions more than anything.

My question is, how much of a negative effect do you think the Bush administration has had on the current standing of the GOP in the minds of voters, and the resulting electability of GOP candidates? Is the current negative perception the fault of the administration, or does it have more to do with the mantra that the media has consistently spewed towards all things Bush related, or is it due in your opinion to a perceived do-nothing congress when the GOP had control?

Based on how you answer these questions, my second question is do you think it was even Bush at all that started the slide, or had the slide already started before Bush was elected in 2000? If so, do you think it started with Daddy Bush, or even earlier with Reagan?

I am definitely no college student (graduated w/ an MBA in ‘82, thank you very much), and I'm not using my mother's computer either. I also have no affiliation whatsoever with DUmmys, socialists, demoncRATS, or any of the other misfits who call themselves “liberal”. I disdain both Obama and the Hildebeast, but probably Obama scares me more because I think he can do more damage.

Glad you cleared that up, MGM. Usually when a noob posts something against a Republican and doesn't hang around to defend, it is assumed the poster is a troll and hence your hazing.

We can agree that Bush has been a disappointment to conservatives. If you are sincere in what you have said above, you will find yourself at home here at FR.

Just having a little fun. No offense intended.

There have been many people who post a vanity the same day they sign up with the intent of drawing us into saying something they can point to as evidence of how racist/homophobic/sexist/hypocritical/etc evil republicans really are. These people get ZOTted... that is banned. The joke is that the viking kitties come play with them first.

We have learned to be wary of first day posters and there is... from time to time... collateral damage.

I did mean the “welcome” part. I think you will find this site very informative on a wide range of issues. The knowledge base here is pretty incredible and someone will have the straight facts on just about any subject that comes up.

That being said, there is very low tolerance for BS or made up “facts”. I've seen a number of posts that sound good but are quickly debunked by another FReeper.

Again, sorry that you got a little hazing, but enjoy your stay.
