Ick. It won’t get that cold here but I hope these 80s hold up(they won’t though, not even down here.) Am I still bitter and clinging to summer? lol

Heh, I just noticed yesterday that we must have a leak from the washing machine, and it’s coming through the kitchen ceiling. We’ll turn off the water while we’re gone on vacation, and deal with it when we return. We needed to fix that part of the kitchen ceiling anyway. ;o)

It’s always something isn’t it? When I had the plumber out to fix the anit-siphon device on one of the outside faucets he advised me that we needed a pressure-reducing valve for our main water supply since he was measuring the pressure at 75, and it shouldn’t be more than 50. I think that maybe what caused the problem with the upstairs sink, which OB couldn’t fix after all, and so I’ll have the plumber put in the pressure reducing valve when he fixes the problem upstairs.

The painters are starting in earnest tomorrow, since the house is power-washed and primed. Workman all over the house, my favorite thing - NOT!

Interesting report as always, Mister Mag.

Well... here I sit at Sea-Tac again. Gonna spend the week down in the big wicked city again. This trip is to kick off the new SOX season. Yay. I’m so excited.

:-)

I’ve always been intrigued about those cigarette machines. Sounds like you have good success with yours? Man... with the price of smokes lately it’s getting more interesting all the time. And our “governor” Christine slapped another buck a pack on...

She’s risking her re-election...oh wait, they’ll just “find” votes like last time.

Afternoon Ramius, guess you can’t take your sword with you for the ‘downtime’ would be a good time to practice riposte, lunge and parry.

There are several machines out there. The Premier Supermatic made in Canada (Complete with English and French on the labels) is the one LSA uses. We buy in bulk on the internet. It’s about a buck fifty a pack since we buy the good tobacco (no burning agents and no chemical additives) LSA has had the machine three years and a few spare parts now and again and it’s running like a top. It’s worth the initial investment. Remember there is no safe cigarette. YMMV.

It’s a bit like reloading, set up is the bulk of the cost and then it’s only time and components. Think of it as the entry level single stage press.

BTW - just finished up another box of .38s. I like the 158gr semi-wadcutter on top of 4.8 grains of Unique.

Ah... tried to reply to this earlier when it seems that FR took a holiday. :-)

Yes, regrettably the swords have to stay home. I suppose that would make for some trouble at the airport. Though... gimme a cutlass on an airplane, and ain’t nobody hijacking it. :-)

158gr SWC: Yes, sir. Loaded thousands of those. My powder of choice was Winchester 231, but I’ve got no quibble with Unique. I used some of that too, but I got a good deal on a 10 lb can of 231 once... and it took years to burn it up. :-)

That is the downside of the 60 hour work week. The money is good but the time factor not so good. Very interesting product.

Everybody's working 12-hour shifts, so the people I see when going in to work are the same ones I see when I leave.

Vey heavy rain here, with some counties getting almost 2 inches an hour. When I went home this morning, the local creek, which runs in a steep V-shaped embankment about 12 feet deep, was within three feet of the road surface. Going to work tonight, it's only about one foot lower than the road. I hope it's passable by morning.

I'm getting more and more sold on that NanoLube, even if I'm not sure how it works. On my S&W 629, I could feel the extractor rod "seize up" in a tiny side-to-side movement, even when I used moly lube. Stainless-on-stainless tends to gall.

Two drops, and now it's as slick as snot on a doorknob. I didn't have time to remove the sideplate to get to the rest of the action, but a little bit on the crane worked wonders, too.

The diamonds seem to polish the area where dimensions are tightest, leaving them brighter than the rest of the stainless. It leaves a moving surface looking almost jeweled, since the rest is untouched, and therefore less shiny. Not as pretty as a pristine finish, but this revolver feels like it's a lot happier now.

That’sa lotta rain. We Warshingtonians see a lot of rain but it tends to be spread over weeks, rather than hours, or minutes. Good luck out there.

That nanolube stuff is really intriguing. Got a link to where we can get some? Might try that on some things.

Well, I did it again. Put my foot right in it.

Last weekend, we had a “missions emphasis” at church where they talked about, well...missions. They didn't mention disaster relief, but they did talk a great deal about a mission trip to New Orleans that a group had gone on during the summer. It was not a DR trip, per say...meaning it wasn't organized by the state DR, but by ordinary folks in the church. That's good...mission trips are good!

Still, I wished they'd mentioned more about DR and got to talking to the pastor and he said he only knew of me and one other guy in the church that were DR trained. Come to find out, that guy's training had expired and mine had too, except I was already signed up to get my training update the next Saturday (yesterday). I asked the pastor if I could put up a small display table with info on it about DR and sign up some folks to go to the next DR training in October in OKC. He said that would be great, and if I got more than just a couple of people, we could take the church van.

So I did just that...this morning I set up a small display table and put my yellow cap on it even...with a sign-up sheet. As I was standing beside the table this older guy comes up and says “What are you doing?” I told him what I was doing, thinking he was interested in possibly doing DR. He said “Well, I'VE been planning on setting this up for MY mission team.” He seemed a bit irritated by me.

I seriously just stood there blinking...trying to figure out what he was talking about.

Then he says “You need to organize this so that the training is done here, not in OKC...MY mission team won't want to go all the way to OKC for the training.”

I said “Well, I got permission from the pastor to sign people up for this training session in OKC, so that's what I'm doing today.”

He walked off, still seeming very irritated and as he walked off he said to another guy “That's not the kind of missions MY team does...that's Disaster Relief and completely different.”

I have no idea what I did to irritate this gentleman so much, but leave it to me.

Wow - you should shake his hand. How truly special to meet the center of the universe! I mean, how many billions of people on this planet will live and die without meeting him and knowing for certain who makes the sun rise and set? Maybe a handful will be so blessed to receive a bowl of rice from him. And there you were, lucky you! The good news is that he is the center of the universe, not you, and he certainly had that mindset before he ran into your table, so I suspect that same sequence of events would have played out even if you hadn't been so nice and accommodating... and yeah, that's some snark. I've got no patience for puffed-up neo-Pharisees strutting around and trodding on toes because they're so gosh darn holy...argh argh argh!.

LOL! Center of the universe indeed. Since he wasn’t interested in Disaster Relief anyway, 2J, I wouldn’t give it another thought. That’s terrific that you’re willing to take on the job of getting a group together. That’s something that guy hadn’t even bothered to do, he only wanted to complain that you beat him to the punch. ;o)
