I ended up being at the festival later than I intended...but it's not supposed to rain tonight or anything, so I guess it's OK.

Nice little festival. My favorite, I think. Of course, the fact that I only have to drive about three minutes doesn't hurt.

Your stuff should be fine. Where were you? I’m not sure I was really paying attention this morning.

Little bluegrass festival. Over on Kimmie, basically. Past the hardware store to the right. Reallly close, in other words.

Some good bands, and I got to play a bunch of tunes with some of the same folks I’ve been hanging out with, which is always fun.

Heh...neither did I. It’s annual, but I’d never seen the signs before. I didn’t even know there was a campground there, but there is.

You're welcome! It's a cute mug! I've posted a link to your site on a couple of thread this evening when folks mentioned "Read My Lipstick".

We're getting a lot of wind and rain right now from Hanna. It's been going on for a couple of hours, and according to the satellite, and looks like it will continue for another hour or two.

Thanks again!

Hanna ended up being mostly a rain event for us. Not much wind at all.

There isn’t much hope for the family gunshop these days. Soon it’s going to be WallyWorld and the big box stores.

And they will only carry .22s, a few shotguns, and a couple of Marlin 336s. No handguns, no ammo except in the calibers of the guns they sell. Then they will "convince themselves" that it's too much hassle, and drop guns completely. That is, unless the government helps them speed up their decision.

Apologies for tonight's Saturday Night Gun Pron. We're rolling out a major new application and a new hospital at the same time. To commemorate the occasion, they've got me working 55 hours, and hired a whole bunch of new morons to keep me busy on the phone.

Tonight, we take a quick look at stuff related to spotting scopes. I needed a tripod for my Leupold scope, and, for $26, thought I'd take a chance on this racy Swedish model, complete with stinky rubberized canvas carrying case:

It's made by Nife, a respected Swedish optical maker, and is (except for the case) in near-mint condition. But at 8 pounds, is a bit too massive for my little scope. But when attached to a super-high-end military rangefinder, it looks something like this Zeiss:

So I stopped by REI (the nearest camera shop has gone out of business), and got a $15 chicom mini tripod.

I still have to get a killflash for the big 60mm lens, and then fit everything into a hard case. That requires plucking tiny little boxlets of foam from the pluck-foam lining, and I hate pluck-foam. Fortunately, the "Foam Factory" is nearby, and I can buy the stiff black foam for one quarter the price of what the manufacturer sells replacement foam. I already ruined a fitting job on one Pelican case, and a new sheet of foam cost me $10, as opposed to the $40 Pelican wants.

While on the subject of rangefinders, I found myself doing an unplanned upgrade of my Leupold laser rangefinder with their newest latest-and-greatest. One web site had a special on the RX-IV in camo for $100 under the next best price. For $100 off, I'll make an impulse buy.

This little (about the size of a compact camcorder) gem has a digital compass, inclinometer, ballistic computer, hygrometer, and other goodies built in. It can supply the complete ballistic solution (less Coriolis effect) for several different classes of cartridges. It displays the answer either in inches of hold over/under or clicks. It also has about a dozen different reticles to choose from. A further product review will be provided once things slow down here (a few more weeks).

Morning ALL - pretty nice scope stand, I’m still using old my bushnell 25 power on a camera tripod. The range finder with all the bells and whistles would be nice, still haven’t got one but still plan to get one. The overtime is a mixed blessing, more money but less time to enjoy it.

Morning Hair/Ecurbh. Wow, 400 bucks is a GREAT yard sale. Congrats. You’re halfway to the EBR or all the way to a new monitor (I think). Best of luck on the sale today.

What we are looking for with this $$ is an entertainment center and a leather couch with recliners

Looks like we might have enough, I’m cruising craiglist :~)

Barack Hussein Obama is an anagram of “Babushka Macaronies”
Make of it what you will.

Yeah, that should hopefully be enough, given a bit of time for searching! I’d think the couch and recliners might be a little trickier than the entertainment center, but it’s still doable. A whole new living room set, huh?

I’m selling some stuff on Craigslist (not furniture) in order to make up for a big purchase yesterday. I...um...bought a guitar. I’d already sold the guitar I bought at camp for more than I paid for it, and I was planning to buy another guitar soon to replace it as my go-anywhere guitar, so it was only a very slight jumping-the-gun. There isn’t a huge difference to make up, but I should be able to get fifty bucks or so for a few typewriters and other little things. Might post that bike, too, though I’m still dithering.

I’m finding a lot of leather couches around for less than $300, but some are just way too big. We don’t have room for a really long couch.

Probably goes with the territory, I guess, since they tend to be the nicer pieces. Folks that buy leather couches have big houses. ;-)

A leather version of the Entmoot couch would be way cool if one had the room for it...

I know... I’d love a big sectional like that. But I don’t have room. You do. More than I have here!

I have more room...but I also have a desk, a bike, two guitar cases, a mandolin case and a banjo taking up space in the living room...plus the couch and the TV and the bookcases and all. ;-)

I’m going to do some shuffling to make room for the wood desk...may need help with some of it, but I at least want to be ready.

I’m also doing all the cleaning I shirked yesterday...me and my gallivanting ways!
