Vista works fine once you turn off the unnecessary overhead junk and learn how to use it.

I have a question for you, then--I'm running Vista 64-bit with SP1. How do I install VMware Server so it will access the local host?

Which I've already answered previously, you run VMware Workstation instead, just as VMware would tell you if you asked them.
