WEST PALM BEACH It could've been a typical spat between grocery store customer and manager, with the customer announcing he planned to take his business elsewhere. But then the customer drew his gun. The store manager drew his and so did the assistant manager.
It all happened at 5 p.m. Monday at the IGA Supermarket at 1000 36th St. in West Palm Beach. And in the end, West Palm Beach police arrested customer Marshall Hugo Grant for attempted first degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, aggravated assault with a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm. Marshall Hugo Grant
Police reported Tuesday morning that Grant, 73, entered the store through the exit despite manager Marino Hernandez's warning not to enter that way. The confrontation escalated, Grant drew a handgun, assistant manager Roberto Espinal drew his handgun. Hernandez also pulled a gun. Grant backed out of the store firing three times as he went, the arrest report states.
The managers, who witnesses said never returned fire, ended up surrounding Grant, who hid behind a vehicle while continuing to fire, police report. Grant eventually surrendered his weapon to the managers once they told him police were on their way.
doncha just love it when a plan comes together? armed guy, looking for trouble gets his wish, and nobody even got hurt.
That’s one IGA that may not have to worry about any armed robbery attempts in the near future.
I thought Horatio Cain was cleaning that place up?
Horatio Cain: Or out. (Puts on sunglasses as he walks out of frame)
This is the perfect example of where the gun grabbers think that a full scale shootout is inevitable. Guess what... it didn’t happen. The good citizens protected themselves and their business and showed perfect restraint in not firing a shot. Guns in the hands of good people is not a problem, we’re not all gang bangers and drug addicts.
I couldn’t have said it better.
Indeed.
Was that guy a criminal before he drew his weapon?
From this, I would infer that Mr. Grant did not have a concealed-carry permit, and that his acts should not be associated with those who carry concealed lawfully.
It’s nothing like that in the Keys. I don’t even lock our doors in the daytime. I have about as much use for a gun as a humidifier here.
Where is youtube when you need it?
We live in Delray, but there are a lot of places here in S. FL that I just don’t go by myself. Of course, the fact that even in the better areas the drivers are clueless doesn’t help....

Watch for the managers to be fired for carrying at work just like Dominos and Pizza Crap has done.
For your sake, I hope you are right.
Personally, I prefer to have it and NOT need it, then to need it but not have it.
count all the votes! (sarc)
Agreed. I carry my .40 caliber Springfield Armory XD concealed on my person at all times unless I am teaching, entering a government building, or traveling by plane.
Yeah, I didn’t live here during that election, but I have to say after I moved down here, suddenly it all made sense.

Must be some pretty big boys...
