In one month, have your wife apply for County benefits. You hopefully will not have to use them (they are mortgage assistance, utilities, food)(because you'll have a great job by then) but anyone who applies for temporary help has to show zero income to be considered. You must not be able to show zero income for at least a month. If you apply before then you will be disqualified.

If you will wait to apply for unemployment for two more weeks, your household will qualify for the above benefits, should you need them.

Should you need them, and you didn't follow the above advice and were honest, you will get zero help/return on the taxes you've been paying in forever.

Been there, done that in '01 (tech crash, Austin).

Typo: when you apply for assistance you must show zero income for the last 30 days. Wait until 30 days after your last paycheck issuance.

Again, not that you'll need assistance.

Good luck.
