I remember seeing a sign somewhere that said “CAUTION: Be sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear.” LOL!
I know what you mean about “tempting fate”. My whole family is like this. We’re almost afraid to say that we’re feeling good or that things are going well. It seems like every time I get my hopes up about something...and say it out loud...something bad happens. People are always saying how you should think positive and walk on the sunny side of the street. I’ve never had that kind of cock-eyed optimism. I tend to think in terms of what can go wrong and how am I going to deal with it. Plans go awry. It helps to have a backup.

I am an anxiety person and I have been criticized for it. My deceased best friend used to sting me so bad by saying, “You just like to worry!”. Of course that is not true. I always say I'm not a pessimist, I am a realist. I live in the real world and as much as I'd love to live with all the rainbows and bunnies I can't stop thinking about the rent coming and what in the world I'd do it I get hurt or could not go to work.....yadda yadda yadda. By the way, my above mentioned friend, well, I noticed that when something ominous was looming and it was HIS problem - guess what - he worried and then it was like scared right!
