That ship will not be able to fit through the Panama Canal locks.

I've been on several Carnival Cruises, the last one from NYC to Halifax and St. Johns on the huge Carnival Destiny. What I've learned is this: (1) Get the cheapest inside cabin you can, over the rudder even. You're not going to spend any time there except to sleep, and it only needs to be dark for that. (2) Don't go to any of the dinners. Blow them off because there's plenty of free food everywhere, and having to dress up and sit at a table at a set time is a nuisance; it chops up the day you could otherwise spend in the pool or some more interesting place. (3) No matter how many people are on board, there are always decks where you can be alone, watch the sea, and read a book, if you like. (4) If you look carefully for it, there's almost always a magic show somewhere every night.

The last cruise I remember sitting in the steam room drinking ice water, looking out a glass wall to see the sun setting over the North Atlantic, listening to Pavarotti sing Nessun Dorma, and thinking this isn't bad for 5 days/$600.00.

The one I was on in 1961, had 5200 aboard and would not fit through the canal either. We had to go all the way around the Horn. But, we could land planes on our ship.(USS Kitty Hawk)
