I still can't get the magic to work

That link you provide is to a web page, not to the image itself. If you want to display an image, you must provide the URL for the actual image file itself, not to the web page containing that image.

If you right click on the image and then left click on the "Properties" entry on the menu that comes up (this is on Firefox -- IE might vary a little) then you can see that the URL for the image itself is:

http://www.syvjoneshouse.com/UploadFiles/Alex&SpeakerNewt.jpg

To display that image, include the following in your post:

<img src=http://www.syvjoneshouse.com/UploadFiles/Alex&SpeakerNewt.jpg>

When you include the above in your post, it will display as the image:

If you right click on the image just above, you should be able to examine its Properties and see that it is indeed the image at the URL: http://www.syvjoneshouse.com/UploadFiles/Alex&SpeakerNewt.jpg
