A Freeper's Observation; Tort Reform

HOWDY FREEPERS!!!!!!

Today I wanted to offer another observation on something that is being talked about here in Oklahoma these days and that is the subject of tort reform.

It comes as no surprise that our state is the laughing stock of the nation becuase of the unfortunate reality that we have lawmakers incuding our govenor who are in the pockets of these ambulance chasers. Our govenor did promise to "outtexas Texas" with lawsuit reform only to reneg on this promise after going fishing with a couple of ambulance chasers by vetoing a tort reform proposal last year.

This issue does concern those of us who have medical needs as more and more doctors are fleeing the state and moving to places like Texas which have passed tort reform laws.

But this issue goes beyond medical matters.

There are lots of concerned citizens who have made it a point to blow the whistle on unethical and illegal activities by our elected officials. Many of them are choosing to do it anonomously through posting articles on the Internet for fear of possible retribution and lawsuits by those whose feelings get hurt by the articles.

Several months ago I saw a letter to the editor in the Lawton Constitution by someone who was proposing civil monetary judgements being awarded to those whose feelings get hurt by viewpoints being written or said. This goofball, an apparent Max Cleland hero worshipper (Cleland, a former Democrat senator from Georgia) Made reference to an article by Ann Coulter where Coulter blew the whistle on Cleland and his hero worshipiing of John Kerry.

The unfortunate part to all this is this goofball might get her way if she had enough mnoney. This is becoming a very major problem here in Oklahoma. Too many public officials and way too many judges in the pockets of these ambalance chasers. Oklahoma has had a very colorful political history and unfortunately, it continues today. As one person said on another message board, "Money only talks to money."

There have been numerous efforts to try and reform our political system through initive petitions. Unfortunately a lot of these efforts are being stalled through blatant and deliberate cases of malicious prosecution by our state's AG office.

As I mentioned before the state AG has made it a point to turn this office into his own legal firm with campaign contributions being used as legal fees.

We had an opportunity to throw this bum out in 2006. We didn't do it and now we're paying a very huge price for this mistake

Businesses around the world look at stories like this and make relocation decisions based on these stories. A state like Oklahoma that is run by public officials like it's govenor who are in the pockets of ambulance chasers (trial lawyers) will never receive any consideration whatsoever from lots of these businesses. If our state is going to have any kind of a future, then we're going to have to clean up our act and throw these bums out.

Our state legislature has the house under control of the GOP. the Senate is split between both parties. We have opportunities to change this makeup in the next couple of election cycles.

We can't continue to allow our state to be run like a brothel. Things have got to change and they have got to change now. Do we want to continue to run those whose essential services (Medical) might be neeeded someday out of our state?

It's my hope and prayer that the voter will think about these things when they go to the polls this year and in 2010.
