There is, I think, something more. Something richer. And it's rather startling.
See, I've read the profiles and the liberal fawnings and the intelligent analysis, the attempted takedowns and the right-wing smears, all the valiant attempts to dig up something dirty or problematic or frightening about Obama and his family, his past, his middle name, his beliefs and his pastor and his favorite flavor of ice cream attempts that, rather amusingly, have all failed.
I've read, too, the glut of wonderment, how Obama is this generation's JFK, how he makes Hillary Clinton's brand of retro cronyist politics feel like the equivalent of rubbing salt on a paper cut. He is, they say, that once-in-a-lifetime candidate, a fantastically rare mix of intelligence, consistency, inspiration, hope, charisma, humanity, articulation, and an almost shocking lack of manipulation and sheen (well, relatively speaking),...
I also nodded in agreement when snark-master Jon Stewart appeared slightly stunned and taken aback and very nearly jokeless as he pointed out, following Obama's remarkable speech on race in America, that at long last, here was a top-tier politician who dared to speak to us like we were adults. It wasn't just refreshing; after seven-plus years of humiliating, monosyllabic dumb-guy Bushisms, it was downright jarring.

You've been warned!
This is beyond a man-crush. Miss Morford is probably having perverted sexual fantasies about the Obamessiah. He wants to be Obama’s Mark Magdalene.

The fact Borat Obama has not rejected Louis Farrkand is enough “GUILT” for a hundred would be candidates.. to be guilty of..
What a fawning, obsequious mushbrain.
"You are feeling very sleepy..."
He hypnotizes the feeble with the "hope" and "change" mantras. But he may have a "deeper, crazier, intuitive" whatever that lures these suckers in.
It’s sad that someone who can write as well as Morford, and who can get somewhat more than halfway to a good and solid insight, as Mark Morford, can still yet succumb to the same vacuous conceits he ably identifies as constituting the Obama Phenomenon. His intellectualized fawning just can’t quite shake the stardust from its eyes.
He’d have been better off analyzing the phenomenon itself as a political pathology, a kind of “mass delusion of crowds” alive and well in the early 21st century.
But rest assured, if Obama were elected President on the cosmic “Change” platform he carries around with him to stand on, his supporters would NEVER show disappointment in him when he inevitably would reveal himself to be just another Establishment politician, at best. Look at how strenuously Bill CLinton was defended for 8 long years, no matter what he did, what he was, what he “compromised” on.
Too soon for this guy to start petting himself on the back.
Obviously Morford suffers what BHO’s black liberation theology dictates: he was born into the original sin of white skin.
The author was, once again, typing with one hand.
I don’t do Barf Alerts, you’re old enough to read and decide for yourself.
He's "petting" all right, but it's not his back...
