A barren wasteland?
In a land of Cactus and sand
To some the scenery may look bland
One can see for miles across the plain
In a land that receives little rain
A walk out in the desert will reveal
Creatures of all sorts from sublime to surreal
Scorpions, lizards, spiders, birds of prey and snakes to mention a few
Many more can be listed that are seen at a zoo
The air is clean and the sky is blue
All the while, the sun beats down on you
Perspiration exudes from every pore
And your thirst continues to grow more and more
The longer in the sun you stay
Your mind conjures up images that are far away
For the uninitiated they have a compelling urge to go
To the image that they see in the suns glow
As they approach the image, they find
It is only a trick played by ones mind
A trick that can be easily overcome
By having a water canteen to drink from
Be careful where you step as you walk along the way
For a misstep can ruin your day
And listen for noise of a rattling kind
That signals danger and you had better pay mind
Because a rattlesnake can give you a nasty bite
And caused some people to die of fright
But for all of the dangers seen far and wide
Lies a beauty that the desert shows with pride

NYA, this is wonderful, I like it. So this is what you did today, huh.
It was well spent. Nice images of the desert.
This will go on your page in The Anthology.
