It’s hard to keep up with but I think AT&T is good at RCR for quite some time.
It’s not definite that Labonte will go to RCR but if I were him I would.
I was speculating when I first heard the sponsor announcement that Truex would go there as his contract is up thankfully at DEI the end of the year.
Didn’t they have to stop using the AT&T logo on the 31 as part of a settlement they reached with NASCAR over the Nextel lawsuit? RCR got to keep the logos on for only one or two more seasons at most, I thought.
- AT&T is in the first year of a 3-year/no-refund agreement with Richard Childress Racing, signed in June 2007, reportely worth between $16 million and $18 million per year.
- As part of the settlement between NASCAR, Sprint/Nextel and AT&T last September, AT&T agreed to pull out of the Nextel/Sprint Cup Series at the end of 2008.
- That settlement hasn't stopped Richard Childress from lobbying NASCAR to give AT&T Cingular's slot in the exemptions granted Cingular and Alltel when Nextel became the series sponsor.
