Correct. From the Southern side it was all about slavery. From the Northern side it was not.
600,000 plus dead. Thousands of women, children and the elderly left homeless and destitute. Economic ruin. Thousands of square miles ruined. 11 states under military occupation and subject to the exploitation of human vultures swooping down from the north. The Constitution ignored and a powerful, centralized federal government ruling the people.
Let that be a lesson to you then. Do not start a war unless you're willing to live with the consequences.
The limits of your denial have no bounds.
Southern reason for secession: States rights.
northern reason for initiating hostilities: Politics.
Let that be a lesson to you then. Do not start a war unless you're willing to live with the consequences.
Up till now, the South has never started a war, but we've shown that we won't back down, even in the face of overwhelming odds. We're still like that, so, tread lightly.
Like I've told you before, you yankees should be thanking us for remaining in the union, otherwise, the north would be flying the Hammer & Sickle.

Indeed. I guess the Southerners knew for a short time, before the reign of terrorism against the Republican Party and freed blacks and the reinstitution of tyrannical and racist Democratic rule, how it felt to be black. And only some years, not centuries.
George Washington reportedly told his aide that if the two sections were to separate over slavery (as indeed, anyone who follows history knows was the cause of the sectional strife) he would join the North.
At least men like the Laurenses, Lafayette, the Father of Our Country (GW) and Thomas Jefferson were aware of the evil of slavery, how it inured Southern gentlemen and ladies to tyrannical and despotic and arbitrary rule over other human beings (the antithesis of liberty and the independent yeoman farmer unafraid and unashamed of laboring with his hands) and how it was actually a long-term economic and moral detriment to the South and to the Republic. They also foresaw that a great conflict would arise between the sections over slavery.
The Southrons/Neo-Confederates seemingly spit upon the great example of the JEffersons and Washingtons, slave owners with a conscience and insight, and embrace men who would attempt to enshrine one of the most horrific and violent institutions in the history of mankind in PERPETUITY, condemning untold millions to misery and to intellectual and material poverty and suffering for all time, is a testament to their moral blindness and lack of TRUE patriotism.
