I suspect that each week Jason thinks to himself, “I didn’t get voted off? Hey, that’s cool.” He’s in the Top SEVEN now, for cryin out loud! It appears that he’s just riding the wave, picking out songs each week that he figures suit him, and then just waits to see what happens. In no way does he come across as believing this is the greatest thing that has ever happened, or will ever happen, in his life. I kind of get the feeling that he sees this more as a game than anything else.

I disagree. I was just reading some of the blogs and there were a few comments on Jason's behavior. Many feel that he is just bewildered by all this hoopla because he's really just a shy church-going kid who plays music. (I don't think he's a druggie, either.) Someone said that he was off by himself during MJ's song and that KLC pulled him into the group...that he was sad and shocked because MJ was like a big brother and his roomie.
On "Shout to the Lord," one poster wrote that Fox being owned by Murdoch who loves Bush (???) who is a Christian was why they did that theme. Other comments stated that Idol Gives Back was about Africans, who are Muslims, so why sing Christian tunes? (rolling eyes)

I kind of get the feeling that he sees this more as a game than anything else.I happen to think that Jason is one of the sharper knives in the drawer. He knows that he's not really the American Idol type and that he's not going to beat Monchichi. He appears to be overwhelmed that he has struck a chord with the public and truly surprised when he gets through each week doing things his way, not what he thinks the PTB want.
What impresses me most is that he's a college student. He is preparing himself for a REAL JOB somewhere down the line. I wonder if Michael Johns has spent his almost 30 years chasing this dream and has nothing to fall back on. I hope not.

(I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused.)
