Kinda hard to tell where the boat ends and the ship starts. When I was around my daughter’s age, I spent some time on my uncles 35 foot salmon boat off Juan de Fuca. Caught kings bigger than me. I really enjoyed it. My uncle would drink Black Jack, and I’d run the booms. Good days.

A few years later, he built a 50 footer out of ferro-cement. Yep. Him and a friend, and he spent the rest of his retirement catching king and silver. He was in the editorial area of the Post-Intelligencer before he retired. Quite conservative. I suppose the dissonance at work was what made him such an ornery cuss :o)
