They work because of air pressure. No sure why they think this is such a big deal.

When I first read the headline I thought they meant they had tossed one in space, not in the space station. I can easily see why it works in the space station since it has an atmosphere all its own, but if the did it during an EVA exercise it would just keep going, for a long, long time!
I’m now getting the idea that it was thrown inside. If this is the case, then it is not a big deal. If, indeed it was thrown outside, then it is a big deal if it returned...
