Politicians, many of whom are lawyers are trained to speak to a jury and mesmerize the masses while they either bore the commoner or deceive them into believing they are wise and knowledgeable. Look what happened with the OJ trail, remember the DNA lecture. It was above many of the jury's intellect.
I always look at motive and then substance when people in power speak.
