Obama and the TUCC - Why?

First there were the tapes of Rev J Wrights hateful rants then Obama's lame attempts to explain his association with the TUCC. Obama's slick speech yesterday was an attempt to put oil on the stormy waters stirred up by Wrights hate fillerd rants. Now every one is asking why, if Obama despises such rhetoric, did he not leave that church?

I've read analysts, listended to pundits and talking heads for days now and no one seems to get it.

Here is my take.

Keep these facts in mind. He did not have a 'normal' upbringing in a home where religion is a regular part of family activity. He spent some time schooling in a madrassa and some time in a catholic school neither of which was in this country. He never learned the pledge or proper respect for this nation or the flag at an early age.

He came out of university with a law degree and Noam Chompsky's formula for success filled with ambition. He went right into civil rights law practice while working as an activist organizer in the district of chicago ruled by Louis Faracahnn.

He did not join The TUCC congregation for religious purposes. He joined for politics and business purposes. His religion is power and riches. He got rich by wheeling and dealing and winning large fees on civil rights cases. The TUCC congregation is full of potential clients, all filled with rage at whitey and the Wright man to keep them angry. He has played them like a Stradavarius. Jackson and Sharpton have nothing on him. He has used their racist prejudices to get to the district's US Senate seat and now thinks he can use the same tactics to parlay that into the Oval Office.

I am so offended by Obama’s speech; he told us all that it is not the content of your character that counts but the color of your skin. He told us the only way to heal the racial divide is to elect him President. He called me a racist because I am white; I am sickened by him.

Not one mention of the greatness of this country because he doesn’t see it as great. No words about those who fought and died to free slaves, no words about the freedom agenda, few words on progress.

I believe his speech was divisive not unifying. He may have initially used his church to get ahead in local politics, but he got suckered in (willingly I presume) into the hate whitey/hate america message that the wrong Rev Wright preached and he cannot and will not let it go.

Wrapping himself on a stage with eight American flags in the background to deliver a speech on “race” just impresses the falsehood of his message.

Would be interesting to know if Oprah was a regular member of this church and if so, why she stopped attending.

Only problem is she’d have to be waterboarded to get that info out of her..

Your speculations appear pretty salient, I think.
