We figured out a way of heating four wires (North, East, South, West) and kept them at a constant temperature.

We would regulate the current of each wire and measure how it changed as the wind blew over the wires.

My software used the measured current to each wire to figure out the wind direction and speed.

That information was then supplied to the targeting computer of the M1 tank to increase their first round hit accuracy.

Care to hear what I did for Lockheed Martin?

Radar Air Traffic Controllers in the U.S. sit around their radar screens and often have no idea about the weather. I was tasked to decode weather information and display it as the background on the radar screens.

Today, aircraft can be diverted around a serious thunderstorm, because ATC can see the storms on their radar screen.
