Only Now
Its only now that I notice,
No matter how long it has been,
That the Futures divided the same way,
From the past by the moment were in.
Only now has it started to settle,
In a brain thats been slowing for years,
That the pace of the world doesnt speed or slow,
Except when its sharpened by tears.
They say that the eye grows misty,
But the teardrop can act as a lens,
Like Leeuwenhoeks early microscope,
When we focus on might-have-beens.
Were all middle-aged for a lifetime,
As we focus on whats been and how,
It has shaped what is likely to come about,
Through the funnel of only now.

(Tired of the hype about Hope? ... Just wait. When Obama is elected, all "hope" will be gone.)
