From the photos, it looks like a drunk drove through bushes to me.

More likely, a drunk rear-ending a piece of farm equipment like a field "aerator" or something similar.

Having checked my copy of "Monster Spotter's Guide to North America" by Scott Francis, here is the low down:

South Carolina Lizard Man AKA: Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp, Lizard Man of Lee County
Characteristics: Tall biped with three clawed fingers and toes, reptilian skin and red eyes.
Size: Approximately seven feet tall.
Habitat: Swamps around South Carolina
Appetite: Carnivorous
Precautions: This creature is massive, can move incredibly fast and is prone to unprovoked violence.
