“Hendrix, Cream, Led Zep, Jefferson Airplane, Zappa, Janis Joplin, Vanilla Fudge, Iron Butterfly, Doors, Steppen Wolf, Santana, etc.”

How did that come and go so quickly and when will it happen again?

Lately, too many (much too many) threads are hijacked and used to denigrate a group.

Can’t you just (for once) show some respect and express condolences for the death of a person whose (long ago) music brings back cherished memories.

Mike Smith was saved and noone was a witness? Then how do we know it happened? You’re confusing a lot of people here!

From the end of “Little Big Man:”

Dustin Hoffman: Grandfather?
Chief Dan George: Am I still in this world?
Dustin Hoffman: Yes, Grandfather.
Chief Dan George: I was afraid of that.

“Jann Wenner...burn in hell.”

Well, if so, he should move over and make room for you.
DC5, Boston, Journey and Foreigner are the worst kind of white bread spawn of Pat Boone easy listening elevator music.
And that’s more than a feeling.

Apropos, how come no one has mentioned the Undertakers?

And, what’s wrong with Pat Boone’s music.

I loved ‘Love Letters in the Sand’.

Oh! To be at that age again and listen to that song for the first time.

I am so sad to hear Mike Smith passed away. Peter Noone has been working diligently on helping Mike Smith in his troubles, including helping gather support for getting him an expensive specially equipped van. I hope that knowing he had all those friends and fans (like the Noonatics at peternoone.com) around the world gave Mike some sort of comfort.

1) Why don’t YOU read the persepective on this story posted by the ORIGINAL poster. It is his thread and I was responding to the initial thesis.

2) The concept of thread hijacking is nebulous. To a certain extent, ALL threads are hijacked.

3) “Can’t you just (for once) show some respect and express condolences for the death of a person whose (long ago) music brings back cherished memories.”

What the hell does this ridiculous statement mean “for once”. Are you alluding to other threads. BE SPECIFIC.

4) The “group” I am denigrating is limited to rap performers. No more or less. Save your perpetually offended posture for those who will crumble in its presence. No sale here.

“How did that come and go so quickly and when will it happen again?”

It was such a different sound from early, mid 60’s stuff that kids flocked to it, kind of like the rise of Grunge in the early 90’s after a decade of hideous 80’s keyboard bands.

The excitement may be over forever. I remember countless times gathering at friend’s houses to listen to a new album release on the stereo. It was a social event. The internet has changed that. There’s new bands out there in just about every genre that exits that are easily accessible, have a great sound and will never be heard on a radio or CD player.

“Don’t forget Try Too Hard from 1966.”

Good call.

Cued up next in the rotation after the stellar:

“Can’t You See That She’s Mine”

I see that you can speak English.

Your first post suggested that you spoke a ‘Amos n Andy’ dialect. For someone who so dislikes ‘rap’ so much you seem pretty well versed and fluent. Are you a closet rapper? Could these wordings just be something you pulled out of your nether regions?

By the way...What is the English translation of the word ‘Dom’?

As one who’s just a little older, I can honestly say - I hope never.

The Dave Clark Five basically gave birth to Van Halen.

My opinion, of course.

Sad to hear that.

Take me back a long way, sports fans and campers... I was a big DC5 fan in the 60s complete with shaggy hair that the gals in really short skirts I knew liked to run their fingers through!

Gadzooks, it is a wonder... I don't have four or five dozen illegitimate kids from the stories I recall.

If so... where the heck are they and why aren't they here taking care of old Pappy?

I honestly can’t figure out why anyone would think the Dave Clark 5 belong in the Hall of Fame - they were kind of a second tier, and didn’t really add anything or create anything new.

However,

It apears to be true that Wenner over-rode their vote last year and kept them out, that’s wrong, whether I think they belong there or not. And knowing Mike’s circumstances, it was incredibly cruel.

“You can say that again.”

Maybe later.....

Abysmally ignorant, race-baiting, feeble-minded punks in attendance at present...
