Are We Underestimating Obama?

Its time for us to touch on a serious topic. SEMom and I have been discussing something we noticed about Obama. He has what we have come to call "IT"....it being what we saw in Reagan..... how he can move and stir an audience with words.

How many others see this also?

The difference being, of course, Ronald Reagan’s vision was a freer America, while Obama’s vision is a socialist America.

Obama is scaring the stuffing out of a lot of us.

In re Obama having 'IT'...

The best way I can describe Obama's appeal right now is that he uses flowery words to effect what UOx42 used to do with his lip-biting. Remember when Der Schlickmeister used to go off on some sappy topic and then he'd start to tear up and his lower lip would start quivering and then he'd look people in the eye and lie his hind quarters off.

Obama strikes that same chord but he uses Elmer Gantry phrases about 'hope' and 'yes we can'...but he does not connect politically yet, and that's what I am waiting for. When he connects politically (like telling laid off workers he'll get their jobs back, or telling seniors he'll take care of their drugs and social security), THEN we should worry big-time. Right now he is the emptiest of suits with good speechwriters, with NO legislative record to point to and NO leadership record whatsoever -- at least BillyBob and even Dukakis were Governors...and he has the great good fortune to be running against a universally hated opponent...;-))
