So, with gasolene prices bobbing up and down. And the economy also bobbing! When and what will it take to get rel action n Aternative energy?Nikola tesla(1856-1943) had the answer more then a 100 years ago! That of broadcasting wirelessly eletric power! He even set up a braodcasting tower for this at Wardecylle,Long Island(Now Shoreham, L.I.) But when he mentioned FREE ELECTRIOC POWER to hs financial backer the great Robber Baron J.P. Morga. Whos meatered eletric power intreste would have been ruined. The money was removed and Tesla went into a life long debt!To honor Dr. Tesla in 2005 and 2006 I organized the GLOBAL ENERGY INDPENDENCE DAY held every July 10th the birthdate anniversary of Dr tesla. To rembewr Tesla and promote ALTERNATIVE ENERGY AND FUELS,VeHICLES. See the Tesla memorial Society www.teslasociety.com And Pure Energy Systems A Community Built Alternative energy site www.Peswiki.comNikola Tesla/GloBAL ENERGY INDPENDENCE DAY. No!!!!! What is neeeded is REAL ACTIO NOW!!!! Perhaps at least a Day to rember Nikola tesla And PROMTING ALTERNATIVE ENERGY is one way to do this?

Alternative energy is already available, yet you still choose to buy gasoline. Go figure.

That supposed word origin is very dubious. Very few words have entered English from acronymic beginnings. Posh is one, and of course radar.

However, there are too many related referents for that to be an accurate rendition. Shire Reave, the origin for Sheriff, seems to be related, as does share, shore, and others.

Actually, it has lost a sound, the original being more like ski, such as skat or scat.

A word I was examining recently, blatherskite, also has a connection.

Some of my inferences may be incorrect. This was all done from memory.

I used to have a book on word origins. I loaned it to my daughter, evidently on the “No Return” Plan. That was at least 10 years ago...

I thought it was on TCM, which means it would have been commercial free. Can’t recall, though...*sigh*

"Learned my birthday won't fall on Easter again until 2160..."

Well, let's see. That will be a Sunday, so I don't think I'll be busy.

True for most people, but I noted this year when in Catechism Class I learned about the table for Easter in the Book of Common Prayer. 2008 was unimaginably far in the future then...

Whoa! We just had a HUGE gust of wind blow through (scary watching those 150-200' cedars whip back & forth), and suddenly the rain is gone, the sky is blue and the sun is out.

NnBob, I anticipate being in your neck of the woods again in about a month. Perhaps we should get together and talk about Monkey Face, the Undead Thread, life and the multiverse again? *\;-)

One of the boys in my Sunday School class had his birthday today, too. We have four birthdays coming up in our family, starting with Anoreth’s on Thursday. All of them end up on Easter sometimes. It’s very unusual for them all to fall after Easter. Usually most or all are in Lent!

Ready when you are.

Try to not terrify the waitress this time.

I was thinking about this matter of birthdays.

Pity the lad born on February 29th, 1896.

He would have a birthday cake with ONE candle on February 29th, 1904.

After his glorious fourth birthday, he could ship out to fight in World War I, and hopefully return for his fifth birthday on February 29th, 1920.

Hoodat, that must be some other Undead. We do not countenance such behaviour here.
