Although I don’t know the city as well as some there are some good suggestions here,IMO.One thing to consider (if you have lots of time) is the ski-lift car (part of the subway system) that runs from,I think,2nd Avenue over the 59th Street Bridge to Roosevelt Island.The ride is only a few minutes long and the Island itself is nothing to write home about (IMO) but the view of the city during that short ride is amazing.
