Bless you for your rescue work. I would love to have a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, but I am too old now and the dog would out-live me. I would worry what would happen to it if I couldn't be around as long as the dog.

But then, I have had dogs all my life. The two I still have are 16 years old and still healthy, jumping "pups." I sure will miss them when they go to doggie heaven.

Did I hear right that Patty Hearst had a dog in this show that won in one of the categories? I woke up this morning and couldn’t figure out if this was something I heard or if it was one of those whacky fever dreams!! LOL!!

I think Snoopy and Charles Schultz are dancing. That beagle was just so perfectly a-dor-a-ble! He knew he was the best, and he woofed his way to the trophy!

I think I read someplace that if Unowon it would be the first win for a beagle since the 1930’s. Good on him!

Yes, she has a French Bulldog. It won Best of Opposite Sex. I am not familiar with that catagory

You could always rescue an older Cavalier. ;) They are harder to come by as they are not as popular as Cockers, but there are Cavalier rescues out there.

Another great shot. But it makes me remember how cold it is outside. And I live in Virginia!

I wish I could, but I will be moving to an apartment and with two dogs it is already a hassle in finding a place that will accept multiple pets.

Sure did! The crowd went wild. The dog, Uno, knew he had the title in the bag and was just so proud doing his thing going around the ring. His little legs were in perpetual motion and he barked when he was done...as if to say “Look at me. I am a winner!”

It is hard to find an apt that will allow multiple pets. The hardest surrenders are elderly folks going into nursing homes. They love their pets so much and it breaks their hearts to part with them. Sad to say it is hard on the pet too.

It’s simple. If the best dog in a particular breed is a male, they pick the best of the females for Best of Opposite Sex. If the girl dog is Best of Breed, the male is then Best Opposite.

I might be facing something like that. I have talked with my vet who has taken care of these dogs for over 10 years. She has cried with me because I might have to send them to heaven if I can't find a place that is both on the ground floor (I can't do steps), and allows both dogs, without an exorbatant additional charge I can't afford!

It is the saddest, hardest, heart-breaking thing I am facing, but cannot stay in a big house with a big yard any longer. At 16 these dogs would be traumatized being anywhere else, with anyone else. I was in the hospital lately for almost a month. My great neighbors looked after them, but they were so sad all while I was gone. I can't put them through another trauma. And my vet agrees that giving them a peaceful rest is the most humane thing. She said that often people in my situation do find homes (but not for two dogs, and they cannot be separated) and even then the dogs pine away and usually die in 6 months, sad and lonely for their original owner.

I just cannot let that happen. That is why I would never advise an older person to get a dog. The dogs outlive you, and then what??? You leave them and never know how someone else is taking care of them.

Thanks, I didn’t know what the judging for that category was about.
