Help finding Reagan quote

On a recent thread--from the last week, certainly--a freeper posted a quote attributed President Reagan. In a nutshell, Reagan asserted that the Republican party had no need for moderates. It was a short and snappy quote, and I (stupidly, erroneously) thought I would have no problem committing it to memory. Those of you who know me can quit laughing now.

Anyway, I did a google but realized it would take me hours of reading to come across the quote, so I thought one of you may be familiar with it. Any help you can give is most appreciated.

“We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all.” —Ronald Reagan

Yes, I love recollections of Reagan!

A President with conviction and an uncanny ability to place political concerns 2nd to his convictions while smiling.

Thanks for the memories MoJave. : )

Will they answer this: if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?"

A true statesman with the common sense to come in out of the rain to boot!

Forgetfulness is an affliction created by the coming of the tax season via more concerning personal issues at hand. ; )

Not exactly what you are looking for, but timely and appropriate:

I believe the Republican Party has a platform that is a banner of bold, unmistakable colors, with no pastel shades.

Ronald Reagan said in 1975 that, “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers.”

That's a very timely quote. In my mind, at least. We need our representatives to be just as bold and unmistakable as the core conservative beliefs.

My goodness. That was the very first article I looked at when I googled, and the quote was in the very first paragraph. I’ve gotta cut back on the Irish coffee.
